The Met Department says that the prevailing windy condition is likely to continue further over the island.

Therefore, strong gusty winds up to 50-60 kmph can be expected over the island particularly in Western, Central, Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Uva provinces and in Trincomalee, Amparai and Hambantota districts.

The possibility for strong gusty winds in the sea areas around the island is high, the Met Office said.

The sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar and also in Hambantota to Kalmunai via Pottuvil can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-65 kmph at times.

Other sea areas can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
