The health authorities have commenced an investigation as it was found that no doctors were on duty at the Thammannawa Hospital to treat when two accident victims were brought for medical treatment.
The incident had occurred yesterday.
At around 4.15 pm, a motorbike travelling on the Anuradhapura - Trincomalee road had veered off the road at hit a lamp post at the Ambagahawela Junction.
Three of the same family, father, mother, and son were critically injured in the mishap.
However, when the injured were taken to the Thammannawa Hospital, the villagers accused that there were no doctors on duty to accept the injured.
Then they were taken to Mihintale Hospital and while they were being taken, the son and his father had passed away.
