The cardiac surgeon at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Dr. Namal Gamage said that the cardiac surgeries at the hospital have resumed.
 
He said that the surgeries are now performed with the work to renovate the central AC system of the Intensive Care Unit being started.
 
The surgeon decided to stop cardiac surgeries at the KTH on 14th of this month as authorities were not taking steps to renovate the malfunctioning central AC system of the ICU.
 
After surgeries are performed patients are kept at this ICU and several patients had died as a result of the defective AC system.
 
Meanwhile, sources at the National Hospital, Colombo said renovation activities are taking place at its cardiac unit too very often.
