Sri Lanka Cricket has suspended Danushka Gunathilaka from all forms of international cricket, pending inquiry.

The suspension was handed following an initial inquiry conducted by SLC after the team management reported that the player had violated the 'Player Code of Conduct'.
 
The suspension will come into effect immediately at the conclusion of the ongoing second Test against South Africa, at Colombo.
 
SLC has also decided to withhold Gunathilaka's fee for the match until they get the outcome of the investigation.
 
It is compulsory according to the code of conduct that cricketers return to their hotel room by 10 pm during the period of a Test match.
 
However, the team manager had informed Sri Lanka Cricket and the CEO of SLC Ashley de Silva noted that up until 11 pm last Saturday, Danushka Gunathilake, had not returned to his room.
 
Ashley de Silva further noted that a temporary suspension was imposed until a comprehensive investigation is held with regards to the matter.
 
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Sports Ministry, Kamal Padmasiri who overlooks the administrative aspect of the SLC noted that Gunathilake’s name had been mentioned in a complaint which was received by the airport police as well.
 
When our news inquired into the complaint from the airport police, a spokesperson noted that a Norwegian woman had filed a complaint against a friend of Danushka Gunathilake for alleged sexual abuse.
