Three students were distressed after their raft capsized in the seas off Point Pedro, Jaffna today (Jul 23).
 
The students aged 14 and 15 years were rescued by the fishermen.
 
Our correspondent said of the three students who had drowned, one had died.
 
The other two are receiving treatments at Point Pedro Hospital.
 
Meanwhile, police said that seven persons died of drowning over the last two days.
 
Two girls, aged 11, died after they had drowned in the seas off Calido beach in Kalutara yesterday.
 
Meanwhile, two boys aged 16 died after they had drowned in Veyangoda.
 
Three more drowning-related deaths were reported from Maskeliya, Wadduwa, and Avissawella during the past two days.
