Sri Lanka recorded a thrilling three-run win in the fourth match of the 5-match ODI series against South Africa at Pallekele last night.
 
Chasing a Duckworth Lewis revised target of 191 off 21 overs, the visitors reached 187 for 9.
 
They were well on course to win, some sensational fielding by Dasun Shanaka, Angelo Mathews and Dananjaya de Silva helped the home team bounce back.
 
This was Sri Lanka first win against South Africa after 11 consecutive losses.
 
Needing 8 runs to win in the last over bowled by Suranga Lakmal, the visitors lost their last recognized batsman in David Miller for 21 in the second ball.
 
Earlier, batting first, Sri Lanka made 306 for 7 off 39 overs.
 
Kusal Janith (51), Shanaka (65) and Thisara Perera (51 not out) propelled the score.
 
Shanaka was adjudged the man-of-the-match of his all-round brilliance.
 
The visitors enjoy an unassailable lead of 3-1 with final ODI is scheduled for Khettarama Stadium on Sunday.
