The General Secretary of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Udaya Gammanpila says the leaders of the Joint Opposition will meet tomorrow to discuss the speaker's decision on the opposition leader's post.
 
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed the parliament last week that he cannot change the post of opposition leader.
 
Gammanpila said that he believes that the Joint Opposition should act independently in the House in order to get the Opposition Leader's post.
 
He said this expressing his views on a recent written request by eight members of the Joint Opposition seeking MP Dinesh Gunawardena is appointed to the post.
 
Jayasuriya said he took into consideration the views of opposition MPs and experts as well as the parliamentary traditions of other countries in making his decision.
 
The speaker said that the United People's Freedom Alliance is a party to the unity government and the party with members who are not representing the government is eligible to have the opposition leader's post.
