Police have uncovered a plot to kill Sri Lanka's globally renowned racing driver Dilantha Malagamuwa.
 
Accordingly, he had lodged a complaint with the police headquarters.
 
Following that, a special police team has commenced investigations into an alleged plot.
 
According to sources, police was informed of the plot by an underworld figure who is in police custody.
 
He had revealed that a former provincial politician had given a contract to a prisoner to murder Malagamuwa due to a dispute over a tea land.

Meanwhile, Malagamuwa told us that he had informed the Prime Minister today regarding a plan formulated to assassinate him.

When contacted he said that a property acquired by him on the lease was being forcibly acquired by a high ranking official from the Janatha Estate Development Board and that there is a conspiracy to assassinate him.

Dilantha Malagamuwa further noted that the contract had been given by the former UNP organizer of Kelaniya, and the acting Director of the Janatha Estate Development Board to an underworld member for execution.
