It has been reported that the strike launched by a private bus workers’ association this morning, has not had the desired impact on bus transport services.
 
Our correspondents said that the routine services provided by private bus operators are available, throughout the island.
 
It has however been reported that certain services on rural roads have been affected to a certain degree.
 
The All Ceylon Private Bus Workers’ Union launched the strike at midnight yesterday in protest of the new spot fines.
 
Meanwhile, Transport Deputy Minister, Ashok Abeysinghe said that additional SLTB buses will be deployed if a short of private buses is reported due to the ongoing strike.
