A massive 8.2 magnitude earthquake reported near Ndoi Island, Fiji in the Pacific.

Met Department said there is no effect on Sri Lanka.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said no tsunami was expected, perhaps considering the quake’s depth.
 
At least a dozen smaller quakes occurred in the same area following the 8.2 magnitude temblor. The strongest had a magnitude of 6.8.
 
Fiji is located in one of the most seismically active areas in the world.
