The Transport Ministry has decided to increase the bus fare by 4% effective midnight tomorrow.

However, the Transport Ministry said that the minimum bus fare would not change.

In addition, the ministry stated that the bus fares on expressways would not change following the bus fare hike by 4%.

In addition, semi-luxury bus fares would also not be increased.

Bus unions demanded a 10% increase in bus fares and to increase the minimum fare to 15 rupees.

They even threatened to launch a strike on September 24th if the demands were not met.

Earlier, bus fares were increased by 12.5 percent while increasing the minimum bus fare to 12 rupees from 10, earlier this year.
