Committee appointed to prevent elephant deaths due to train accidents

The government has appointed a committee to look into accidents where elephants are run over by trains and take steps to prevent such incidents.

The move comes following an accident in Habarana recently where five elephants were killed after being hit by a fuel train.

Transport Minister, Nimal Siripala de Silva has appointed the committee which will be headed by the ministry secretary.
