A group of individuals protested against the presence of former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunga, and several others who were in attendance at the opening of the Meewala Bridge in the Bo-negala area in Attanagalla today.

Our provincial correspondent stated that Minister Faizer Musthapha and deputy minister Lasantha Alagiyawanne had also participated in the event.

The bridge was opened on the 11th of this month by a group including, Western provincial councillor representing the SLFP, Upul Mahendra Rajapakshe.

However, measures were taken to declare the bridge open officially today, with former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunga attending the event.
