The Cost of Living committee which met yesterday has decided to introduce a price control on rice.

Accordingly, a kilogram of samba should be sold at 108 rupees while Nadu is sold at 88 rupees per kilogram.

A tentative price control has been introduced expecting the prices of rice varieties to be increased in the market in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Committee has also decided to increase the duty on imported powdered milk by 15 rupees.

The new duty will take effect after two weeks.

A member of the cost of living committee told our news team that the price of a packet of powdered milk would not increase due to the new tax.
