Former DIG Nalaka further questioned - CID informs the courts there is sufficient evidence to arrest Chief of Defence staff

The CID is still questioning former DIG Nalaka de Silva for the second day in a row.

Nalaka de Silva is being questioned in connection with his alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former defence secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

He was questioned for 9 hours yesterday.

Meanwhile, the CID informed the court today that they have sufficient evidence to arrest the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathna.

Admiral Wijegunarathna has been accused of aiding and abetting Lieutenant Commander, Prasad Hettiarachchi to flee the country.

Hettiarachchi is the 10th suspect of the abduction of 11 youths in Colombo in 2008.
 
The CID further stated that it will record a statement from Admiral Wijegunarathna next week and take necessary action thereafter.
