Bus strike in Ambilipitya; Colombo taxi drivers take to the streets

Private buses plying between Colombo and Ambilipitiya have staged a strike in protest of assaulting a bus conductor.

Our correspondent stated that the strikers are demanding the authorities to implement the law against the attackers.

Another bus conductor employed by a Moneragala bus had unleashed this assault at the Bastian Mawatha Private Bus station last Saturday.

The victim has been admitted to Colombo National hospital.

Meanwhile, taxi drivers have launched a protest in front of the Lotus Pond Theatre in protest of not revising taxi fares after the fuel price increase.

All Ceylon taxi drivers union chairman, Charith Attanapola told our news team that they have planned to march up to Nugegoda later in the day.
