Bus unions heads to the transport commission today for discussion about reducing bus fares

A discussion between bus unions and the national passenger transport commission will be held at the commission this noon.

That is for taking a decision regarding decreasing bus fares by 2 per cent in relation to the recent slashing of diesel price by Rs. 7/=.

National Passenger Transport Commission chairman M. A. P. Hemachandra told our news team that the cabinet would be informed of the decision arrived at the discussion.

We inquired from several bus companies regarding the discussion due to be held today.

Lanka Private Bus owners’ Union chairman Gemunu Wijeratna said that he hoped to reach agreement at this discussion for decreasing  the bus fares based on the consensus that would be arrived at regarding updating the national bus fare policy within three months.
