This is following a decision taken during the party leaders meeting held last afternoon.
The parliament convened yesterday under the patronage of the speaker, following which Prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa made a special statement.
Following this, UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella noted that there was no confidence in the statement made and noted that a vote was essential.
The speaker then inquired into the decision from the council.
As a result a tense situation erupted which subsequently extended into a clash amongst the MPs.
Later the speaker left his seat and called for a party leaders meeting during which it was initially decided to reconvene parliament on the 21 of November.
However the decision was reverted upon a meeting held with the party leaders, and it was decided that parliament would reconvene at 1.30 pm today.
