CWE chairman MP Arumugan Thondaman said that he would today meet President Maithripala Sirisena and discuss about increasing the daily wage of Estate workers.

Participating at a media briefing held yesterday at the CWE headquarters situated at Kotagala, the CWE chairman said that he did not agree to the employers' proposal for granting and all allowance inclusive wage of Rs. 1012 including the increase of the basic daily wage of Rs. 530 /- to Rs.600/-.

Day 7 of the uninterrupted strike launched by estate labourers will take place today.

Meanwhile, Tamil Progressive Alliance deputy leader, MP Palani Digambaram  said that his alliance had decided to support the strike. 

the MP said that MP Thondaman should take action to obtain the 1000/- rupee daily basic wage from the estate employers.
