Former President Mahinda steps down as Prime Minister

Former+President+Mahinda+steps+down+as+Prime+Minister
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa making a special statement said that he has resigned from the post of Prime Minister.

Parliamentarian Shehan Semasinghe said that the Former President said he was resigning making way for the President to appoint a new Prime Minister.

A discussion was held this morning between UPFA MP’s, UNP MP’s who joined the government and the Former President at his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa who signed his resignation letter took part in religious observances as well.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s special statement is expected to be released to media this afternoon.
