Political sources state that the new cabinet will likely be sworn in by tomorrow.

A UNP senior MP told our news team that the list of prospective ministers is scheduled to be sent to the President today.

According to the 19th Amendment, the president has authority to hold the mimistry of Mahaweli and Environment in addition to the ministry of Defence.

political sources stated that the names of two UNF MPs will be nominated for the ministry of Law and Order and the Media Ministry.

Earlier, the president had overseen those two ministries.

The UNF has proposed to create several non-cabinet ministries as the cabinet is to be limited to 30.

A senior UNP MP further said that the cabinet will be appointed soon after the names of its proposed members are endorsed by the president.
