MP Ravindra Samaraweera was sworn in as the non cabinet minister of Labour and Trade Union.

In addition, MP MA Maharoof was sworn in as the deputy minister of Ports and Shipping.

MP V Radhakrishnan was sworn in as a non-cabinet minister of special zonal development.

All three ministers confirmed that the swearing in ceremony took place before the President this morning.

Meanwhile, the ministry of labour and trade union has been removed from the purview of Minister Daya Gamage.

Minister Gamage will retain the portfolio of minister of social empowerment.

The number of non-cabinet ministers of the current government has increased to 5 with the swearing in of two new ministers today.

In addition, 8 deputy ministers and 17 state ministers have already been appointed.

The number of Cabinet ministers, including the ministries held by the president is now 30.

Under the 19th Amendment, the number of Cabinet ministers should be limited to 30 and state and deputy ministry positions should be limited to 40.
