The ‘Sena’ caterpillar menace initially detected in Ampara and Anuradhapura districts has now spread to several other districts.

the caterpillar variant has caused damage to corn fields and reports are being received that it is now affecting other types of crops.

48,000 out of 81,000 hectares of corn have already been destroyed.

Doctor Indika Palihakkaara, a Lecturer at the Ruhunu Agricultural Science faculty stated that the Sena caterpillar variant needs to be destroyed without delay, to prevent further damage.
