A grade 3 student attending Siyambalaanduwa primary school has been admitted to hospital, after being assaulted by a teacher.

The parents of the student confirmed the girl was admitted to the Siyambalaanduwa general hospital and later transferred to Moneragala Sirigala hospital for further treatment.

The teacher had beaten the student stating that the student had failed to bring an abacus to class.

The student’s father noted that she was also forced to kneel down prior to the assault.

The parents have filed a complaint with police regarding the incident.
