No notice issued to Brigadier Priyanka Fernando, Army media spokesman says that the brigadier will not be produced in London

It has been reported that  Westminster Magistrates court in the UK has found Brigadier Priyanka Fernando guilty, of making gesture in a threatening manner at the Sri Lanka high commission premises in London on Independence Day last year.

Several Tamil websites including the Tamil Guardian, and Public Interest Law Center; a nongovernmental organization which filed the case on behalf of the Tamil diaspora had reported this.

the case was taken up before courts under the violation of the Public Order Act of Britain.

The NGO further reported that the  Brigadier had been issued notice through the ministry of foreign affairs.

Army media spokesperson, Brigadier Sumith Atapattu told our news team that  that Brigadier Priyanka Fernando had not been issued such a notice .

He added that they do not wish to have him produced before UK,  as he was on an official national assignment.
