The ministry of agriculture says that paddy mill owners have agreed to sell rice for double the price of paddy.

This was during a discussion held at the ministry with minister of agriculture P. Harrison and large scale and small scale paddy mill owners yesterday.

Accordingly, a kilo of Samba paddy would be purchased at 41 rupees while a kilo of Nadu paddy would be 38 rupees.

In addition, the respective companies have agreed to display the pricing index imposed by the government in private storage complexes as well, when purchasing paddy during the Maha season this year.
