The Court of Appeal decided today to dismiss the habeas corpus petition filed by the wife of the founder of the JVP, Rohana Wijeweera.

Court of Appeal Judges, Deepali Wijesundera and Arjuna Obeysekera dismissed the petition without taking it for consideration on the grounds that the affected party did not seek any judicial action for the last 30 years.

The plaintiff, Chitrangani Wijeweera, who filed the habeas corpus, had named 11 respondents including the Attorney General.

She stated in her petition that her husband was arrested by security forces at her home in Ulapane on November 12, 1989.
