A Proposal to parliament for a 2500 rupees salary increase in the private sector

In parliament yesterday it was proposed that as public sector employees’ salary has been increased, the private sector salaries should be increased by  Rs.2500.

MP Gamini Lokugey, a former Labour Minister made this proposal during the Labour Ministry committee stage budget debate.

Expenditure heads of several ministries including the ministry of Trade Union Relations,  Foreign Employment and Sports were taken up for debate  yesterday.

Meanwhile, the following will be taken up for debate in parliament today,

Expenditure heads of non-cabinet ministries such as Public Enterprise, Upcountry Heritage and Kandy Developments, Digital Infrastructure Facilities and Information and Communication Technology and non cabinet ministries pertaining to Science Technology and Research.
