Iranian Vessel with 1 Billion Rupees worth heroin seized in Southern Seas; 5 Billion worth heroin believed to have been dumped at sea

An Iranian vessel has been seized in the southern seas of Sri Lanka, with over 1 Billion Rupees worth heroin on board.

The vessel is now being brought to Colombo and is expected to dock towards evening.

9 Iranians on board the vessel have also been arrested.

It is also believed that heroin worth 5 Billion Rupees had been dumped at sea as the raid was been carried out.

A Senior Spokesperson of the Police STF said that the vessel is believed to have sailed from Pakistan.

The raid had been carried out by the Police Special Task Force, Police Narcotics Bureau and Navy following information received by Intelligence Units.
