Sri Lanka’s first ever satellite RAAVANA-1 will be taken to the International Space Station at 2.16 am tomorrow, through the assistance of Cygnus-1, a spacecraft from the United States.

Sri Lanka's Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education said that this will mark Sri Lanka’s entry into the global space age.

The research satellite, named RAVANA-1 was designed and built at the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan by two Sri Lankan engineers, Tharindu Dayaratne and Dulani Chamika.

The cube satellite weighs 1.1 kilograms.
