Police curfew which was active from 9 pm yesterday was lifted at 4 am today.

Currently 40 individuals have been arrested on suspicion in connection to the Easter Sunday Attacks.

Meanwhile police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera noted that all Colombo division police stations have been informed of a lorry, van and 5 motorbikes carrying explosives based on a tipoff received.

Further, a letter issued by the Colombo port police notes that intelligence has revealed that explosives have been fixed in a lorry and a small van covered in Aluminum frames which has entered Colombo.

Therefore the letter further requests security officials and security units serving at the Port entrance to be made aware of the matter.

Security has been beefed up in several locations in Fort including the World Trade Center, Central Bank Building owing to the prevailing situation.

It has been reported that the Army Commandos regiment, Police STF and tri forces are implementing these unified security measures.

Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera also noted that several individuals were arrested on suspicion, during investigations conducted last night.

Accordingly 6 individuals in Aluthgama- Darga Nagar, 5 individuals from Beruwela – Kankawangoda and 6 others from Kataana- Katuwaapitiya have been arrested.

In addition a suspect has also been arrested during an inspection at a house in Warakapola- Masjeed road.

A motorbike and 4 walkie talkies have been discovered in the residence and the police officers of the Warakapola police station, Police STF and intelligence officers have collectively conducted the raid.
