The Anuradhapura District Judge and Additional Magistrate Manoj Thalgodapitiya has ordered the Director General of Wildlife to appear in Court on 21 of this month.
That was when a petition submitted to the Court was taken up for hearing that the Wildlife Department had erected an electric fence, violating criteria mentioned in a gazette notification and saying that serious damage had been caused to a number of paddy cultivations.
In this case filed by the Anuradhapura United Agriculture Forum, the Wildlife Department, its Director General and the Attorney General have been named as respondents.
