A woman who was admitted to the Vavuniya General Hospital with severe burn injuries, subsequent to having set fire to herself died yesterday (11).

The deceased is a 36 year old woman resident in Mullaitivu.

It is reported that she was an employee at the Divisional Secretariat Office and had self-immolated due to a family dispute.

She had poured kerosene oil on to her body and set fire to herself. During initial investigations, it was revealed that she suffered severe burn injuries.

The Oddusudan Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
