A 45-year-old father and 11-year-old daughter died today after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a Colombo Fort-bound train on the Wadurawa level crossing in Veyangoda police division.

The victims were returning home at Kotuwegoda, Ja Ela after participating in an alms giving at a relative’s place at Veyangoda.

Meanwhile, five other persons were killed in different accidents yesterday.

Two young motorcyclists were killed when they hit a stationary truck at Mallamkulama on Puttalam Kurunegala road.

In addition, a 44-year-old driver and the 48-year old person who was sitting next to him were killed when their double cab veered off the road and hit against a nearby tree at Udangawa on Padeniya Anuradhapura road.

At the same time, another motorcyclist died when he collided with a tractor at Union Kulam in Kilinochchi.
