A former Minister of Agriculture, Member of Parliament Duminda Dissanayake said that all dealings regarding obtaining of the D.P.J. building where the Ministry of Agriculture is located were engaged in by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He made this comment when he gave evidence yesterday at the Presidential Investigative Commission inquiring into fraud and corruption of state organizations during the period 2015/2018.

He said that once the Ministry of Agriculture was established at the Govijana Mandiraya, he had no requirement to move the Ministry.

Subsequent to making arrangements to take over the Govijana Mandiraya through a Cabinet Paper submitted by the Prime Minister for Parliamentary Committees, the Ministry had to be moved to another place Parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake said while giving evidence.

Although several buildings were inspected he said he was not interested in obtaining the D. P. J. Building in Rajagiriya where the Ministry is currently located.

Giving evidence further, Parliamentarian Duminda Dissanayake said that Cabinet approval was received to obtain this building and all arrangements were made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Member of Parliament Duminda Dissanayake was asked to come to the Commission again on 20th of this month for further questioning.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam is due to be present at this Presidential Investigation Commission today, once again.

That is regarding obtaining of evidence in connection with an additional complaint, about commencing a disciplinary inquiry in a malicious manner by the Minister against the Director of School Supplies of the Ministry of Education subsequent to the Director giving evidence at the Commission in the complaint of printing the Minister’s photograph in school text books.

 In addition, the Director General of the Road Development Authority Kamal Amaraweera has been issued with summons to be present at the Commission today, to give evidence regarding recruiting an extensive number of officials to the RDA during the time Minister Lakshman Kiriella was the minister in charge of the subject.
