With groups which came to Sri Lanka to participate in the annual World Bohra Conference arriving at the Airport to return to their respective countries there is passenger congestion at the Katunayake Airport at present.

The Airport Hiru Correspondent said that more than 21,000 Bohras from 40 countries arrived in Sri Lanka recently to participate in the Bohra Conference.

A spokesman of the Department of Immigration and Emigration said that the reason for this situation was because there was not enough space and facilities at the Katunayake Airport.

The spokesman from the Department of Immigration and Emigration said that within such a background, it was impossible to prevent congestion of passengers at the Katunayake Airport on special occasions.
