The Police Special Task Force discovered a weapon manufactured in a foreign country and empty casings hidden behind a Buddhist worshipping place on Samagi Mawatha – Jaya Mawatha – Dedigamuwa.

It is said that this weapon was found based on a tip-off received by the Rajagiriya Police Special Task Force officers and a subsequent search carried out.

It is suspected that this firearm was the one used the shooting last Sunday at the Hanwella – Ambulgama incident and it has been handed over to the Nawagamuwa Police for further investigations.

In the shooting incident which took place at the Hanwella – Ambulagama junction one person was killed and two others were injured.
