It is reported that a case has been filed against Brigadier Priyanka Fernando who served as a Sri Lankan Diplomat as well as a Deputy Ambassador on security at the Sri Lankan High Commission office in England.
Accordingly the case is to be taken up for hearing from today at the British Westminster Court.
He was charged with an incident where he made a threatening sign to a Tiger-friendly group at a function held at the Sri Lankan High Commissioner’s office in London on behalf of Independence Day last year and subsequently found guilty.
However, reports were published that the warrant issued by the British Westminster Court had been officially withdrawn.
That was within a background where Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilak Marapona had requested the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Britain to re-consider the manner in which the British Court acted and the complete procedure followed in relevance to the incident.
Our Hiru Correspondent in London Janaka Alahapperuma said that however, the Court there had agreed to hear the case against Brigadier Priyanka Fernando from the very beginning once again.
