The navy has confiscated 180 kilograms of kerala cannabis which were being transported in a luxury jeep in Mannar.

Two individuals were arrested when the vehicle in question was inspected at a barricade in the Illuppai-kadawai area in Mannar.

The navy media spokesperson Lieutenant commander Isuru Sooriyabandara says that one arrested suspect is a police officer attached to the Medagama police in Monaragala.

It has been reported that the police officer was in uniform at the time of the arrest.

Meanwhile 221 kilograms of kerala cannabis have been found during a search operation carried out in the seas off point Pedro by the Sri Lanka navy together with the coast guard unit.

The navy media spokesperson Lieutenant commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said that two suspects were arrested together with two dingy boats.
