The Human Rights Commission said that 8,000 Bhikkunis have been deprived of the right of voting at this time’s Presidential Election.

In a statement issued the Human Rights Commission said that this was revealed because of a complaint lodged by the Bhikkuni’s who had entered priesthood.

The Election Commission has been informed in writing about this.

The reason for this is because when registering Bhikkunis the Department of Persons Registrations and the Ministry of Buddha Sasasana had not issued the relevant National Identity Card
