The US Embassy in Colombo says that the video circulating in social media featuring a US State Department Spokeswoman over a citizenship issue was fake.

Media Spokesperson of the Embassy Nancy Vanhorn said that it was a dubbed video.

The original video was one pertaining to a media briefing on the 19th of July and that video had been edited and dubbed.

As part of the edit, the colour of the clothes worn by the Spokeswoman had been changed and as a result the colour of the US flag in the background has also changed.

The US Attorney General’s Department also said that another letter circulating in social media pertaining to US citizenship was fake.
