There's a speculation among the cricketing circles that National Cricket Selectors are planning to change the captain of ODI team yet again.

Thisara Perera was appointed to lead the ODI and T20 teams for the recently concluded series in India.

However, Sri Lanka was able to win only one match - first ODI played at Dharamsala - against India.

Thisara also led Sri Lanka's T20 team against Pakistan.

Now the names of Test captain Dinesh Chandimal and former captain Angelo Mathews have reportedly emerged to become the ODI captain.

It is true, Sri Lanka recorded a dismal performance in the shorter format of the game in 2017.

In ODIs Sri Lanka recorded only 5 wins to 23 defeats and in T20Is, ten losses, five victories.

The cricket authorities dumped Upul Tharanga from the captaincy after the Pakistani tour without giving a proper reason.

And now it seems they are planning to do the same thing to Thisara Perera!

The million dollar question is, with the next cricket world is less than 18 months away, can we continue with experiments in team selection and captaincy?
