Minister of Prison Reforms Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, D.M. Swaminathan presented land ownership certificates to over 190 families living in Sidhambarapuram village in Vavuniya.

The Sidhambarapuram village was a camp that housed families who were in temporary settlements for the last 25 years. The villagers were settled there in 1990 after they were displaced due to the conflict in the North.

Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C.V. Wigneswaran also participated in the event.
