The villagers of Bangadeniya, Chilaw noticed over the last few days that poultry population is being reducing gradually.

Initially they suspect the thieves.

But, it was found to be a Fishing Cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) an endangered animal in Sri Lanka.

Later, the villagers caught the animal and handed over to the officers of Wildlife Conservation Department.

Fishing cat populations are threatened by destruction of wetlands and declined severely over the last decade.
