Elephant calf rescued in Thabbowa

The prevailing dry weather is affecting the wild animals and it has become a common occurrence, that animals are encroaching villages in search of food and water.

An elephant calf which was among a herd of elephants that encroached a village in Kudamedawachchiya in Thabbowa had fallen into a pit.

Thereafter, the area residents with the support of wildlife officials rescued the calf.

The injured calf was treated and then transported to an Elephant Care Centre in Anuradhapura.
