Tharanga and Dimuth consolidate lankan innings
Sri Lanka were asked to bat by Pakistan on an unevenly grassy pitch against three fast bowlers, but Upul Tharanga and Dimuth Karunaratne survived that test through to lunch with a positive approach.
Kaushal Silva lasted eleven deliveries, and only three from Rahat Ali, before nicking a lifter behind, after which Tharanga - playing his first Test in a year in place of the absent Kumar Sangakkara - and Karunaratne combined for a brisk 70-run partnership.
Pakistan's new-ball pair of Rahat and Ehsan Adil did not make the batsmen play enough at the start, and Rahat was on the shorter side often, especially to the left-handers.
Sri Lankans were on 85 runs for the loss of 1 wicket short while ago.
