Sri Lanka finally looked like winning a session in the Test, with Kumar Sangakkara and Angelo Mathews putting up a clinic for the rest of their team, but their brisk 87-run partnership ended in anti-climactic fashion about 20 minutes before lunch.

Sri Lanka lost a wicket first ball, that of night watchman Dhammika Prasad, looked in control in the middle, but Sangakkara's wicket to R Ashwin, followed quickly by Mathews' to Amith Mishra, reignited India's hopes of wrapping up the match on the third day.

Sri Lankans were on 108 run for the loss of 5 wickets at lunch.
