Mitchell Starc has been fined for hurling a ball at tailender Mark Craig during the first Test. The Australian paceman was docked 50% of his match fee over the incident that came on day five at the Gabba.
Captain Steve Smith vowed to caution Starc and was unhappy with the “pretty disappointing” episode that came as Australia completed a 208-run win over New Zealand on Monday, when Starc claimed the final wicket.
Earlier this year, Starc was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council after a send-off of India’s Murali Vijay at the SCG. Starc was charged with a level-one breach of the ICC code of conduct, having yelled in the face of Vijay after dismissing him.
