Indrajith Cooray Misses Out Marathon Gold By One Second

Sri Lanka's Anuradha Indrajith Cooray was denied the South Asian Games (SAG) marathon gold medal by a one second as he was beaten by an Indian Athlete.

The gold medal was won by Nitender Singh Rawat, who completed the race in a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 18 seconds. The silver was won by Cooray who finished the race in 2 hours 15 minutes and 19 seconds.

In the Women’s Marathon Geethani Rajasekara won the Silver Medal finishing in 2:50:47.00hrs while Lakmini Anuradhi won the Bronze Medal finishing in 2:52:15.00hrs. 

Team Sri Lanka’s medal collection so far contains 25 Gold medals, 53 Silver medals and 77 Bronze medals.
