Two Sri Lankan mountain climbers will be attempting to climb the summit of Mount Everest next month.
Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala and Johann Peries will be the first Sri Lankans to attempt the 8’488m climb to the summit of Mount Everest next month.
This will also be the first time a woman will be climbing the summit of Mount Everest in Sri Lanka.
Jayanthi KuruUtumpala added that she would like to encourage more women to climb mountains in order to develop the sport of mountain climbing in Sri Lanka.
The duo have successfully trecked Island Peak in the Himalayas, as well as Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Imja Tse, Mt. Kinabalu, and peaks in the Andes.
